Tips

Be careful not to overheat your milk. Look inside your microwave to make sure milk is not starting to overboil. Careful when taking out the bowl with warm milk.

Dip vs. spread or filling - If you want to make this recipe as a spread simply add more milk. This is great for dipping fruit for example

Sugar - Yes, there is sugar in this chocolate spread and filling. But, there is less sugar than conventional chocolate spreads and much fewer additives and preservatives. Additives are added to store bought spreads in order to keep the spread emulsified and to make it shelf stable. This spread requires refrigeration and a quick microwave heat to get it spreadable again, but it's worth the work for a less processed lower sugar spread.

Chocolate chip or bar selection - Opt for chocolate chips that contain about 50% sugar like these chocolate chips here or even better if your taste buds allow I recommend this baking chocolate that has about 35-40% sugar.
