The simple answer is that studies have shown that consuming less sugar can reduce inflammation

Consuming too much sugar can increase chronic inflammation - Harvard Medical School

General recommendation by The World Health Organization (WHO) is to consume added sugar at less than 10% of daily energy intake. But what about for those with arthritis? Also how does one calculate the right percentage? Research is mixed. First, 10% of a 2000 calorie diet, as an example, is 200 calories of sugar, about 50 grams, or 12 teaspoons. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 25 grams of added sugars for women (higher for men). The numbers vary for arthritis with some patients cutting out all added sugars. If you are used to not controlling your added sugars at all we think a 25 gram limit is a great goal. We would love to hear from you! Please comment on this post with how adjusting your sugar content has affected your arthritis.
